Vibrant communities are healthy communities
Hastings District Council wanted to significantly improve the social and cultural outcomes of the region. They believed the development of a regional sports park could provide some headway towards the desired result.
In response to the brief, Giblin Group prepared a comprehensive report on the social and cultural well-being of the Hawke’s Bay region. This analysed how the region compared to the rest of the country by measurement of a specific set of indicators. This report was subsequently used to inform the development of a social impact assessment of a consolidated sports park, which was proposed to be established within the region, also developed by Giblin Group.
Since its opening, you only need to drive past after school and on the weekends to see how the region has embraced the opportunities the facility has provided the community. A wide age and socio-economic range use the facilities and it is also used by large nationwide events such as Te Matatini.
